Jesus said in John 12:24,” unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels–a plentiful harvest of new lives”
In 2005, following 17 years of ministry in Texas,we moved from Dallas back to Georgia for a third church plant. Our year and a half good faith effort resulted in a failed endeavor. We were simply unable to gain sustained traction. We chose to seed the vision back into the soil by allowing it to die rather than trying to re-invent the ministry.
After three plus years,we are now seeing Christs grace filled words come to supernatural fruition as the seeded vision is now coming up and bringing forth fruitful harvest of new lives, new mission, and new vision in this new year. What a seeming antinomy….Life out of Death!
However, I must confess that the seeding of “The Life” with the commensurate death process was more than I could have ever imagined.
The “dark night of the soul” eventuated into a taxing journey that not only sifted my personal faith, but tested the very fabric of many relationships that had taken years to build. Unfortunately, some fell by the wayside. In the midst of it all, I sought out a nouthetic counsellor in order to get spiritual re-calibration. A wise decision indeed.
While there are many more details, hopefully you have gained a sense of why the words of Christ are so profoundly exhilarating. Death has given way to “The Life!”
