Christian Universalism is a damnable doctrine espoused by the likes of Carlton Pearson, Skip Moen, and now Joel Osteen. The heretical view is predicated on the New Testament declaration that God was in Christ, reconciling the entire fallen world to Himself. This “wider mercy doctrine” of comprehensive Inclusion teaches that death of Jesus redeemed all of fallen humanity back to right relationship with God. In effect, Jesus became the way that God provided for every person he created to be fully accepted by him. They need never know Jesus. hear of Jesus, or come to saving faith in Jesus. The way has been provided so that all religious roads could be accepted and Jesus is that way. Here are the heretics in their own words.
Carlton Pearson: “Every human being in the history of the planet was created in the image and likeness of God…God sees Himself in everybody, in every belief system…Jesus is the open door through which all of humanity accesses God, including Buddha and Muhammad or Gandhi. We all go through the same door to access God…” [Beliefnet Interview]
Professor Skip Moen: “What about the Muslim who truly desires to serve God and who embraces all that he knows about God, but all that he knows is what Islam teaches. As far as he is concerned, Messiah Jesus is a Christian mistake. All he knows of Jesus is the animosity Christians have displayed toward Islam, beginning with the Crusades. Does this man really know Yeshua? Hardly! He knows a caricature of the real Yeshua; a caricature that he rightfully rejects. Exactly the same argument could be made for Torah observant Jews. What do they know of the real Yeshua? They only know the “Jesus” that the Church has portrayed, a Messiah that they must reject because that Christian Messiah stands in opposition to everything they know about God.”

You can also include Billy Graham and C. S. Lewis as those who espouse a wider mercy where it is not necessary to have conscious repentant faith in Jesus Christ and to know Him in order to be saved. This heresy has been alive and well within the church for a long time. Thank you for exposing these heretics. God bless you:)

Joel Osteen’s Oct 27,2013 TV message was universalism in saying that Hindus, Jews, Moslems, and I think he said atheists would be in Heaven. Pope Francis said something similar. I was shocked by what this man said, who has an estimated net worth of $40 million dollars. The couple has moved to a $10.5 million mansion in River Oaks, while keeping their former Tanglewood residence, valued at $2.9 million. People who preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ do not get excessively rich like this wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Where in this interview does Joel Osteen admit he’s a universalist? You’re only categorizing him like others are for the sake of trying to comprehend his ideals.
Sure, he says there are many routes to Jesus, and yeah I can understand how you could jump to a conclusion that he is at fault, but honestly, try to research the idea before you start an article over it. His mentality when he said that is the idea that Homosexuals could repent and go to Heaven, never giving specifics on his ideals because of the criticism he receives when he does/doesn’t. Either way its a lose/lose situation because of people who condone ideas with no substance. Quotes with no references. Watching the reference you gave me has no proof as to admittance, only a statement that could be altered any way a person could see fit.

You obviously have never heard Billy Graham preach. Although I don’t agree 100% w/some of his teaching, he definitely is not a universalist! He preaches more “hell fire & brimstone” than most of the preachers in the US. He also instructs new converts (after the services-I’ve been in the meetings w/friends) to find the church they feel teaches the truth and be baptized. This isn’t heard by the crowd, but is taught afterward. He DEFINITELY preached a repentant faith In Jesus.I’ve had friend’s go down that aisle in tears of repentance because of his sermons!

I will agree with him on two points. Jesus is the ONLY way to God and God does not categorize severity of sins, as we do. The word, Sin, comes from a ancient Greek archery term (pronounced in English as “harmatia”) which means to “miss the mark”. If there is anyone that hits God’s mark for their lives everyday, the speak up. I know I don’t.

I find it chilling that “Christians” are so judgemental. I found nothing out of line with what he said. He equated homosexual sin along with lying, pride and other sins. The Bible is clear that sin cannot enter heaven. Let’s take pride for example. If a person is proud that person must work at being NOT-proud. The Bible says we work out our salvation. A gay person must work at being NOT-Gay. Jesus is the ONLY path to heaven. Joel stated this. I don’t know if God doesn’t categorize severity of sins. I think he does. Some sins the Bible uses harsher language, homosexuality is an abomination. Others like stealing to eat don’t seem to have the same harsh language. I am no expert and certainly I am in no place to judge others. I just find vicious attacks on any pastor like nails on a chalkboard. Judgement comes from a place of pride, and the Bible says Do not do it or He will judge you. Personally, I can’t bear that kind of scrutiny. To the person that attacked Billy Graham, literally thousands have given their life to Christ because of this man. How many souls have you led to Christ personally? Can we just take it down a notch with such strong judgements?

How can a person be a NOT adulterer, or a NOT liar, by changing ones course, by making a willful decision to repent and try to change. We are not helpless victims overrun by our desires. We have a brain and we should use it. I know it’s not easy. Being a Christian is the hardest thing on earth. Look what Jesus went through. As far as slavery and stoning you may be getting it muddled up a bit. Jesus taught us to love one another period. Slavery isn’t love. Therefore slavery is not acceptable to God BUT if one finds themselves a slave there are directions on how a slave should behave. Also, slavery many times (in days past) could mean selling oneself because they had no food. It is different then our definition of slavery today (ships coming across the ocean to America). Stoning? Stoning is a punishment for sin. The Bible states sin cannot coexist with God. Just like darkness cannot exist with light. If you light a candle – wala – no darkness. Sinful man cannot coexist with God. Hence Jesus, the answer. As far as stoning, before Jesus came to bridge the gap between sinful man and God a sacrifice was required or judgement. Stoning was like our electric chair. Some confuse God’s judgement with God’s love and think God has a big hammer and delights at the opportunity to use it. Very far from the truth, in fact, God is doing and has done EVERYTHING possible to avoid judging us. Maybe we should stop giving him ammunition. How long could a U.S. Court look the other way if I was running around raping and murdering innocents? God is no fool and will not be mocked. People rise up and get very emotional about homosexuality but like Billy Graham, Joel Osteen and the Bible they all state correctly: it is a sin. I am not a homosexual but I am also a sinner. I don’t like to see judgement of any kind cause then I think I will be next, but that’s why I ask for forgiveness and try to become more like Jesus..

As a Christian you can think whatever you like about what a sin is and what is not, as long as the law allows “sinners” to sin when it does not compromise anyone else. The problem is, you cannot stop being gay, as you can’t stop being straight. This is not something you can just change, like your sexual behaviour. You can stop cheating on your wife/husband or even stop having sex. What you can’t stop is feeling what you feel, being what you are. As for all the attempts at comparisons between the Bible and today’s world, maybe it’s too much effort. The Bible has a history and there’s nothing bad with that, we’re free to give it a universal meaning outside its historical boundaries, but I would stick to the metaphor. PS: Can’t believe there still are electric chairs around!

No practising gay person will enter heaven. No person doing sin intentionally, being it fornicating, gay sex, or adultary or stealing or lying or whatever, without repentence, will go to heaven. People should read their bible more often. God hates gay sex!!!!

Jesus was foolish to suffer the cross ! `Sin` has no cost to pay and a man can kill if it suits his own need. This is clearly a man-made religion that attacks true Christianity and even Jewish teachings that God has chosen to let G_d `speak` and the very Word of G_d (Jesus – Yeshua) wasted Himself if man was automatically `chosen` to gain eternal life. As Elizabeth says, just read and read again the Holy Bible (almost any modern version) and the truth will win !

I am not seeing that he said there are many roads to God,,he said Jesus was the way to God and when he said there are many roads to finding JESUS and I agree. My experience of finding Jesus is not the same as everyone elses. I found Jesus when I discovered my boyfriend had a drug problem, some people find Jesus when they are sick, some people find Jesus when their spouse wants a divorce…..so yes there are many roads to finding Jesus. No we have forgiveness in sins but we are also called to repent from sin. In Revelation Jesus tells us to wash our robes which means to repent. We can’t have entry into the Kingdom while practicing sin. For those who don’t wash their robes are outside like the dogs. Ultimately God is the final judge who gets to enter because it is only God who knows the heart of men and if they have repented. Tired of hearing Oprah ask the same questions….she likes to put the pastors on the spot.
