Maybe he is absent a courageous board willing to hold him accountable. Maybe it’s due to his huge success as a broadcaster and many are intimidated to speak forcefully into his life and ministry. What ever the reason, it is simply unacceptable.
Pat’s ability to continually make what appears to be “off the cuff” comments that lack any serious biblical reflection is dumbfounding to say the least. It’s absolutely embarrassing.
Simply recall that he recently counseled a married man that he could divorce his wife with Alzheimer’s since her condition allowed them no intimacy. Pat felt that divorce was better than adultery. Now that is just whacked!
Now he has managed to make another scandalous statement, but this time it’s about adoption. When you read this, bear in mind that “in Christ”, we have all been adopted into God’s family. I must confess that many of us are pretty messed up and on more than one occasion have acted stinkin weird.
Pat’s statement makes me sincerely appreciate fine parents like Frank and Amy Freeman who carry the Father’s heart for adoption. Because of their compassionate love, their adopted daughter now has a wonderful family to enjoy as she grows into a beautiful young girl.
“In a recent broadcast of The 700 Club, a woman sent in a question about a man who wouldn’t marry her because she has children who were adopted internationally. If they were her “own” biological children, he would have no problem, she said. But because they were adopted, he saw too much risk.
Pat Robertson’s female co-host bristled and said he was acting like a “dog.” Robertson disagreed. He said the man “didn’t want to take on a United Nations,” and that, after all, you never know about adopted children; they might have brain damage and “grow up weird.”
